We're seeking a highly skilled Director, Government Affairs to join our External Affairs organization. This role will be responsible for managing Congressional and state oversight matters, working closely with colleagues across External Affairs, UHG Legal, and the Company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategies to manage Congressional and state oversight inquiries and ongoing scrutiny of healthcare markets.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to internal and external resources on high-profile federal and state oversight-related matters.
  • Liaise with Legal to manage document productions and written responses to oversight inquiries.
  • Develop executive briefing materials, talking points, and presentations to facilitate executive-level meetings with federal policymakers and staff.
  • Anticipate and monitor federal and state oversight trends that may impact the Company.
  • Contribute to effective advocacy efforts to advance and protect the Company's objectives at the federal and state level.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in legal, political, or government affairs and strategic communications experience on the Hill, at a law firm, or consulting firm managing Congressional oversight for clients.
  • Advanced knowledge of Congressional oversight process and political dynamics.
  • Existing relationships and credibility with Congressional oversight entities.
  • Experience developing and executing successful oversight management strategies.
  • Proven track record of representing an organization with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Outstanding written communication, presentation, project management, and negotiation skills.
  • Local and commutable to Washington D.C. or willing to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience or background in the healthcare industry or another highly regulated environment.
