We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician III to join our team at Medstar. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and distribution of medications to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications to patients, including selecting, labeling, and packaging pharmaceuticals.
- Enter physician orders into the hospital computer system to update patient profiles and charges.
- Monitor stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates, and replenish medications as needed.
- Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic techniques, including STATs, parenteral nutrition bags, and cytotoxic agents.
- Deliver and retrieve medications, including narcotics, and pharmacy supplies to/from patient care and satellite pharmacy areas.
- Compound products in bulk or per individual order, and prepare private stock orders and individual unit-of-use packaging.
- Complete and maintain controlled substance inventory log/records, and review patient medicine administration records.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Up to 2 years of technical or other specialized IV/Chemo training may also be required.
- 3 years of hospital experience required.
- DC DOH - Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
- PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or equivalent national certification within 180 Days required.
- Ability to read and write, knowledge of grammar, medical terminology, and proficiency in basic mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
- Keyboard skills and ability to use standard office/medical equipment.
We offer a competitive salary of $33.49 per hour, and a dynamic work environment that values teamwork and collaboration.
