Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic - Aviation Life Support Services to join our team. As an Aircraft Mechanic - ALSS, you will be responsible for performing organizational, intermediate, and limited depot level maintenance on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance tasks on aircraft, components, and equipment, including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees as needed.
  • Interpret technical manuals, instructions, and directives to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Install and remove cartridge actuated devices and propulsion actuated devices.
  • Pack, unpack, preserve, and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits.
  • Repair, fit, maintain, and preserve pilots' personal equipment.
  • Issue and receive aircrew survival equipment, and initiate and update checkout/return records.
  • Assemble, place in service, and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets, and other related safety/survival equipment.
  • Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment, and identify and treat corrosion.
  • Brief and debrief aircrew on the use and condition of survival equipment.
  • Maintain foreign object damage (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.
Requirements
  • Must be a qualified PR "A" School graduate or Air Force school graduate in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST Series.
  • Minimum of three years ALSS/PR practical experience at the organizational or intermediate level is required.
  • Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Must be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned.
  • Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2D, MH-60S aircraft is required.
  • Possess a high degree of expertise in aircraft systems.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Must be familiar with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
  • Previous Military personnel must provide a member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge.
  • Must be customer-oriented.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Government Clearance.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Possess a valid State Driver's license.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Working Environment

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities.

  • May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 70 pounds.
  • Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc.
  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
  • May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
