Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will work in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and front office and clinical staff to ensure the well-being of patients. This role is based in one of our location practices, with the primary center located in Akron, OH.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, process medication refills, handle referrals, and answer patient calls as needed
  • Perform Clinical Intake with patients to include taking and recording vital signs and patient history
  • Assist patients as needed with walking, transfer, specimen collection, exam preparation, etc.
  • Maintain clinical supplies and equipment and ensure proper storage of biohazards
  • Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
  • Assist providers with minor, in-office procedures and perform point-of-care testing
Requirements
  • High School diploma or completion of an equivalent adult education program
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of employment
  • CPR and/or BLS certification or ability to obtain prior to employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience with electronic medical records software
  • Experience performing medical back office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and administering medications
  • Experience performing medical front office tasks including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills, and referrals
