Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

Company: Star Pipe Products

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough quality assessment reports and evaluations utilizing precision instruments and measurement tools.
  • Organizes and transports quality control materials for examination and proper storage.

Core Duties:

  • Inspects incoming shipments and performs quality control checks.
  • Chooses items for evaluation based on the daily inspection log.
  • Performs visual and dimensional assessments of products during the incoming or in-process inspection stages.
  • Interprets blueprints related to inspection reports for scheduled items from the system.
  • Implements sampling plans according to established guidelines for batch quantities, determining acceptance or rejection.
  • Gathers necessary inspection tools from the quality control laboratory.
  • Safely opens crates and pallets containing inspection items using appropriate tools at the receiving area.
  • Inspects items for visual, dimensional, and other physical characteristics in accordance with the inspection protocols.
  • Documents inspection and testing outcomes in the ERP system.
  • Reports any discrepancies identified during inspections to the quality control supervisor for further verification, tagging non-conforming products with a Red QC label.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Over one year of quality inspection experience in the metal sector or a related field.
Preferred:
  • Associate degree or certification in Engineering, Quality Control, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with castings and steel products.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection tools and documentation processes supporting quality inspection efforts.

Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications:

Required:
  • Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic mathematical abilities.
  • Fundamental understanding of quality control systems and standards.
  • Valid Material Handling Forklift license.
  • Ability to work independently.
Preferred:
  • Experience in warehouse operations and inspections within the metal industry is advantageous.
  • Background in Quality Control practices.
  • Coordination with other departments as necessary.
  • Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and dimensional measurement tools.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of using various handheld calipers and quality control gauges up to 60 inches.
  • Able to lift, push, and/or pull components weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Works in a warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to kneel or squat as needed.
