Position Overview
As a Tax Student Associate, you will have the opportunity to acquire significant experience and insight into various tax initiatives while assessing your technical capabilities. Collaborating with our experienced staff and management, you will benefit from their knowledge as you enhance your skill set. The Forvis Mazars Student Associate Program serves as an outstanding opportunity for accounting students in their sophomore or junior years to gain essential experience within the tax division of Forvis Mazars. This program may also lead to potential full-time employment and career growth following graduation.
Your Contributions:
- Preparation of general ledgers and financial statements
- Execution of periodic closing tasks, including account reconciliations and necessary adjustments
- Preparation of individual and corporate tax returns
- Processing of accounts payable
- Filing of sales and payroll tax returns
- Development of depreciation schedules
- Deliver proactive client service and meaningful accounting solutions
Ideal Candidates Will:
- Exhibit strong attention to detail
- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills
- Show commitment to client service and confidentiality
- Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
- Have proficient computer skills
- Effectively manage academic responsibilities alongside multiple client projects while consistently meeting deadlines
Work Hours:
We offer flexibility with your academic schedule, provided you can:
- Adapt to our standard business hours of Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
- Be available to work each weekday (Monday to Friday)
- Commit to a minimum of 15-25 hours per week during the academic year
- Work 20+ hours per week during the summer
Essential Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting from an accredited institution
- Ability to manage academic commitments alongside multiple client projects while consistently meeting deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
Note:
Applicants for positions with Forvis Mazars must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
