POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Attendant is responsible for performing essential custodial tasks necessary for the maintenance and cleanliness of municipal buildings.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Building Services Supervisor
Direct Reports: None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following examples of work are not exhaustive and may be adjusted as needed.

Core Responsibilities
• Conducts general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces.
• Empties waste receptacles and collects litter.
• Cleans glass surfaces, which may include windows (both interior and exterior), doors, and desks.
• Operates cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, auto scrubbers, and vacuums.
• Reports any hazardous or unsafe conditions within municipal buildings to the supervisor.
• Prepares various facilities for meetings, including arranging tables and chairs and assisting with audio/visual setups as requested.
• Utilizes city vehicles for the transportation of supplies and runs errands as directed by city officials and management.
• Ensures building security by verifying that all doors are locked and the premises are clear at the end of each day through visual inspections.
• Notifies the supervisor of any maintenance needs such as light replacements or repairs.
• Dusts air conditioning and heating vents.
• Conducts inspections of facilities with the supervisor to ensure service agreements are upheld by staff and contractors.
• Replenishes soap and paper supplies as necessary.
• Responds to requests for specialized cleaning tasks, including bloodborne pathogen cleanups and emergency cleanups.
• Cleans and sanitizes locker rooms, including showers, restrooms, sinks, countertops, urinals, and toilets.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities
• Assists with tasks such as hanging pictures, moving furniture, or changing light bulbs.
• Clears snow and applies ice-melt to walkways and corridors.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred
Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year in janitorial and building maintenance
Certifications: ISSA Basic Certified Custodial Technician or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment

Driver's License Requirement:
Valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record. Must pass a background check prior to employment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge:
• Familiarity with custodial tasks and surface cleaning methods.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment maintenance.

Skills and Abilities:
• Basic communication skills to interact with coworkers, citizens, and contractors.
• Basic mechanical skills to operate cleaning machines and equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is primarily conducted inside municipal facilities and occasionally outdoors. The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and various cleaning chemicals, some of which may be hazardous. Employees may encounter varying conditions including wet, hot, and cold environments and may be required to work different shifts.

HOURLY RATE
$26.21/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
