POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for a range of repair and maintenance tasks related to water and wastewater systems, facilities, and equipment. This role supports various departments within ACWWA and may involve diverse responsibilities. Depending on qualifications, this position can range from Entry Level to Maintenance Technician 3. The primary focus is ensuring the safe and continuous operation of ACWWA's physical assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform maintenance and repairs on water, wastewater, and reclamation systems, including pump stations, pressure reducing stations, valves, and related structures.
  2. Assist in the upkeep of water reclamation facilities, including loading and unloading materials, cleaning work sites, and conducting preventive maintenance on pumps and valves.
  3. Adhere to safety protocols and utilize appropriate safety equipment while performing tasks.
  4. Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools essential for the job.
  5. Drive and inspect vehicles, reporting any necessary repairs.
  6. Estimate and procure tools, materials, and equipment needed for assignments.
  7. Maintain accurate records and reports related to work performed.
  8. Collaborate effectively with team members and establish positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
  9. Demonstrate regular attendance and adhere to the prescribed work schedule.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Maintenance and repair techniques for potable water systems, wastewater facilities, and related equipment.
  • Applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Operation of various hand and power tools.
  • Basic record-keeping and computer applications.

Ability to:

  • Work on-call and outside regular hours as needed.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Understand and follow detailed instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent, with one year or more of mechanical maintenance experience preferred. Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems is advantageous.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Compliance with driving record requirements for insurance purposes.

The work environment may involve outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions, and employees may encounter chemicals and other hazardous materials. Proper safety precautions and attire are essential for all tasks.
