Job Title: Principal Engineer Applications Engineering APC

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer Applications Engineering APC to join our team. As a key member of our Applications Engineering group, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining advanced process control systems for our HAMR program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement run-to-run control and fault detection systems to improve manufacturing yield and quality.
  • Collaborate with process engineering, equipment engineering, and IT teams to implement APC solutions.
  • Manage APC projects to ensure successful production release and quantify benefits against baseline.
  • Perform data analysis to determine and optimize FDC models for fault detection and control model tuning.
  • Design and develop new FDC models for scrap prevention, tool matching, and preventative maintenance prediction.
  • Perform system integration testing and maintain run-to-run control and fault detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot system problems and assist in system recovery to production state.
Requirements:
  • MS/PhD degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, Operations Research, or Statistics.
  • Research or work experience with run-to-run control systems and fault detection in high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical and programming skills, statistical data analysis, DOE, regression analysis, and multivariate data analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with processing technologies and equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with project management experience.
