Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Applications Engineering to join our HAMR program team at Western Digital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Advanced Process Control systems to improve manufacturing yield and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of Advanced Process Control solutions to improve manufacturing yield and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and IT, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of APC systems.
  • Design and develop new control strategies, recipes, and automation systems to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Perform data analysis to determine and optimize FDC models for fault detection and classification.
  • Develop and maintain run-to-run control and fault detection systems to ensure optimal manufacturing performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance APC systems and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
  • MS/PhD degree in Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical), Applied Physics, Operations Research, or Statistics.
  • Research or work experience with run-to-run control systems and fault detection in high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical and programming skills, with expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux operating systems, SQL server, SQL queries, networking, and data acquisition technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience in project management and team leadership.
