Welding Engineer Job Description

Ametek, Inc. is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join our manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and implementation of welding processes for new and existing product lines, including GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and standards, including AWS, PED, ISO, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Review customer specifications and collaborate with Sales/Quotation to resolve special customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain welding procedures for various materials, including carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, and more.
  • Qualify and maintain documentation for ASME Section IX code and API 582 code welding procedures.
  • Train production personnel in proper welding procedures and methods.
  • Optimize current welding and manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction programs and design, document, and implement welding equipment and tooling.
  • Coordinate and analyze results from pilot runs of new or modified product designs.
  • Prepare documentation for new products and processes through Engineering Change Notices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering combined with welding experience in piping.
  • Minimum of 5 years weld engineering and process experience, including qualification to standards.
  • Hands-on experience with production welding equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of welding and joining processes.
  • Welding procedure development experience to ASME Section IX, API 582, and NACE.
