Job Summary

The Financial Accountant is a key member of the accounting department at Epicypher Inc, supporting the company's business processes. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain accounting policies and internal control documentation.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process vendor invoices, corporate credit card transactions, and expense reimbursement requests, as well as process customer invoices and perform collection activities.
  • Fixed Assets and Inventory: Maintain accurate fixed asset records, ensure property tax compliance, and understand and ensure all inventory transactions are properly accounted for.
  • Financial Close and Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain accounting policies and internal control documentation, as well as prepare financial statement, revenue and expense analysis, and report on sales and product margins.
  • External Audits and Compliance: Prepare schedules and analysis to support the completion of external audits, ensure revenue recognition and grant accounting compliance, and ensure sales tax compliance.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3+ years general accounting experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point, and experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred), as well as demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Personal Qualities: Team player with strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, high level of attention to detail and accuracy, well-organized with ability to prioritize, work independently, and learn new skills, and excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
