Sanford, Michigan, United States Mid Michigan Health Full time

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team at Mid Michigan Health as a Crisis Intervention Specialist.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the clinical status of patients referred by emergency department providers, inpatient providers, and primary care providers due to mental health crisis. They will assist in detecting 'at risk patients' and intervene to attenuate further psychological or physical deterioration.

As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will provide de-escalation and crisis intervention, address opportunities for intervention, and assist providers in decision-making regarding appropriate levels of care. You will also consult with physicians as necessary and refer cases to other behavioral health providers for longer-term care as appropriate.

You will work closely with primary care teams to treat and manage patients with chronic emotional and/or physical health problems efficiently and effectively. This will involve providing brief tele-behavioral interventions using evidence-based techniques, preventing suicides and relapse in conditions that tend to recur over time, and providing on-call services to emergency departments to cover overnight shifts and other times when teammates are not directly working.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the clinical status of patients referred by ED providers, inpatient providers, and primary care providers due to mental health crisis.
  • Provide de-escalation and crisis intervention, and address opportunities for intervention.
  • Assist providers in decision-making regarding appropriate levels of care.
  • Consult with physicians as necessary and refer cases to other behavioral health providers for longer-term care as appropriate.
  • Work with primary care teams to treat and manage patients with chronic emotional and/or physical health problems efficiently and effectively.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university. Licensure as a Master's Social Worker in the State of Michigan is required, with limited license employees actively working to obtain full licensure within two years of employment.

A background in crisis therapy skills, including de-escalation, suicide prevention, and motivational interviewing, is preferred. Membership in at least one professional organization, such as the American Psychological Association or National Association of Social Workers, is also desirable.

You should have strong interpersonal skills to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

We offer a dynamic work environment with opportunities for growth and development. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
