Job Summary:

The US District Court is seeking a highly skilled Automation Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Shared Services Information Technology Department, you will provide technical support and assistance to end-users, install and configure computer hardware and software, and assess needs to provide educational training and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide help desk support and technical assistance to end-users
  • Install and configure computer hardware and software
  • Assess needs and provide educational training and technical expertise
  • Support data processing, office automation, and data communications for multiple court units
  • Respond to help desk calls and emails, assist with web access, and provide information and assistance to users on applications such as word processing and data entry
  • Create and run reports, install or assist in the installation of upgrades or new software, and set up, configure, install, and document hardware and software
  • Provide support for mobile computing devices and remote access, provide cabling support, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Perform basic system support for telephone systems, analyze help desk log, create user accounts, and create local court forms from off-the-shelf software
  • Monitor day-to-day operations of equipment and systems, act as the technical expert in solving computer system problems, and recommend hardware, equipment, and software updates
  • Provide and coordinate district-wide information technology training, analyze, research, and interpret automation training needs for multiple court units, and develop training plans
  • Conduct information technology orientation sessions for new employees, design, develop, evaluate, and revise training curriculum, materials, written procedures, user guides, and manuals for use with the court's automation software, applications, and services
  • Develop and conduct end-user training for commercial off-the-shelf software utilized in the court environment, perform as the court's Information Technology Inventory Officer, and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have two years of specialized experience
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is preferred, but not required
  • Specialized knowledge is defined as experience installing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 10/11, Outlook, Microsoft Office 365 applications, and other commercial off-the-shelf software applications
  • Experience performing routine hardware maintenance and troubleshooting on computers, monitors, printers, scanners, etc.
  • Basic understanding of audiovisual systems, networking concepts, and basic server administration, and experience planning, coordinating, and providing systems training one-on-one, or in groups
  • Basic understanding of PowerShell, Visual Basic, or other programming language is a plus but not required
