Job Description

The College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Vermont invites applications for a full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (non-tenure track position) in Intelligent Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related field, and industrial manufacturing experience, ideally combined with university-level teaching experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Educate the next generation of engineers in hands-on intelligent manufacturing.
  • Employ project-based and active learning methods.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain currency in their field.
  • Provide support for curriculum tracking and program instructional planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the profession and the Department, College, and University through service activities.
  • Teach and create undergraduate courses such as Automation, Modern Manufacturing Processes, Digital Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, and other courses.
  • Lead and supervise the FabLab, the CEMS makers' lab which gives CEMS students access to 3D printers, laser cutting machine, and soldering.
  • Design, build and supervise a new intelligent manufacturing laboratory to support the undergraduate manufacturing certificate.

Requirements
  • Graduate degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Industrial manufacturing experience, ideally combined with university-level teaching experience.
  • Curriculum development experience and the passion to finalize and lead the new Undergraduate Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering Principles.
