Job Description

Job Summary

As a key member of our production team, the Roll Finishing Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our roll finishing department. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the department to meet and facilitate safety, production, sustainability, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and enforce mandatory safety requirements, conducting safety observations and audits to monitor and improve safety policies.
  • Serve as a technical resource for all assigned work areas, providing immediate support when process flows are disrupted.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss quality, safety, performance, staffing, art, shipping, and scheduling issues.
  • Work with direct reports to resolve conflicts and difficult situations, determining when Sales/Operations leadership should be involved.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to implement and align departmental initiatives with plant operational goals, supporting and driving reinforcement activities.
  • Bring forth ideas to expedite orders, resolve issues, and confirm cost absorption.
  • Perform performance evaluations with employees at least once per year.
  • Communicate concerns and issues at shift changes with peers as needed.
  • Conduct job and item approvals as outlined in the Quality Management System (QMS) and work with customers as necessary.
  • Coordinate technical training for the team, including specific job task training.
  • Provide immediate constructive feedback to peers and others, teaching and developing people individually and with respect to the business.
  • Resolve daily staffing issues when necessary.
  • Communicate with other departments and team leaders.
  • Cross-train with other supervisors to be a resource during vacations and weekends.
  • Educate and communicate the process of Plan vs. Actual on a daily basis to teams during meetings.
  • Daily verifications of time and attendance using the Dayforce work system.

Requirements

  • Minimum two-year certificate from college or technical school in Management or related program preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years progressive experience in the role(s) being supervised, with previous degree or supervisory experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment preferred.
