**Job Overview:**

We are seeking an exceptional Secondary Track Athletics Assistant to join our team at Ohio County High School. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about track and field, as well as education.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the head coach in planning, organizing, and supervising practices, as well as teaching individual fundamental skills, team strategy, and rules and regulations of the game.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist coaches on one or more sports, including track and field events such as sprints, distance running, jumping, and throwing.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions from the head coach and other school administrators.
  • Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to athletics and student conduct.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, as necessary.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assist in promoting sports in the school and community through various initiatives and events.
  • Work with the head coach to develop and implement lesson plans that promote good sportsmanship, self-control, and teamwork among student athletes.
  • Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
  • Conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of the coaches.
  • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the head coach or school administration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with youth in a coaching or leadership capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of athletic rules and regulations, including safety protocols.
