Position Overview

The Clinical Respiratory Care Specialist utilizes scientific principles and therapeutic techniques to address clinical challenges in respiratory health.

As an integral member of the respiratory services team, and under medical supervision, this role encompasses a variety of procedures tailored to meet the respiratory needs of patients across diverse age groups.

Responsibilities may include providing care at multiple facilities as dictated by patient volume and staffing requirements.

Key Responsibilities


1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify respiratory care requirements and implement necessary adjustments in line with established protocols.

2. Monitor treatment efficacy and maintain precise documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards. Perform point-of-care assessments as needed.
3. Execute advanced evaluations, management strategies, and therapeutic interventions for patients needing respiratory support. Evaluate the success of these interventions and ensure accurate documentation.
4. Complete and document required training and competencies within specified timeframes, ensuring ongoing proficiency in relevant areas.
5. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation and billing processes.

6. Support patients in transitioning to appropriate referral services or home care, providing education on respiratory health to patients and their families.

7. Mentor and instruct fellow respiratory care staff, nursing personnel, and students regarding patient care and respiratory service protocols.

This position may require flexibility to work at various locations as needed.

Qualifications
• Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or equivalent clinical education
• Required Licenses:
- State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License
- National Board for Respiratory Care Certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification
- Basic Life Support Certification
Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry weights occasionally up to 30 lbs
• Frequent standing and walking required
• Occasional bending and trunk rotation
• Ability to reach and handle equipment as necessary
