Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor of Photography to oversee our editorial team. This role requires a deep understanding of photography and editorial processes to ensure the highest level of quality in our productions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the editorial team to source, select, and deliver high-quality images for our publications.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Asset Manager to maintain and organize our digital archive, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Oversee and manage the workflow of all incoming photo shoots, adhering to IPTC guidelines and new workflow strategies.
  • Ensure all images meet our editorial standards and align with our publication's visual style and guidelines.
  • Review and edit raw photo assignments to meet the needs of our editorial team.
  • Communicate regularly with photographers and the broader editorial team to ensure timely delivery of all assets.
Requirements
  • Proven experience (6+ years) as a photo editor or an editorial leader.
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of junior operators or staff.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in photo editing software and tools (PhotoShelter, Photo Mechanic, Photoshop, FTP, etc.) and a keen eye for selecting high-quality images.
  • Familiarity with IPTC guidelines and best practices in handling digital assets.
  • Prior experience in an editorial role, with a strong understanding of production deadlines and the need for constant communication with the team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in maintaining and organizing digital archives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and comfortable working collaboratively within a team.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$100,000, representing base pay only and not including short-term or long-term incentive compensation. We consider several factors when determining base pay, including location, experience, qualifications, and training.
