Job Summary

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager - Engineer to join our team in the Hampton Roads District. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing professional-level experience in project management and technical leadership for the design and coordination of major transportation facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for the design and coordination of major transportation facilities.
  • Manage overall project scopes, schedules, and budgets to meet programmed schedules and budgetary objectives.
  • Apply project management philosophy to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Develop and maintain high-level skills in project management and design to provide extraordinary customer service.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of strategic, operational, and financial management principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Valid Professional Engineer's (PE) license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups.
  • Experience applying roadway engineering design and state and federal standards related to highway design and construction.
  • Experience applying federal, state, and local transportation rules, regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Experience in preliminary engineering and construction activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Experience with large complex projects in the transportation engineering or construction industry.
