Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Temporary to Potential Permanent In Vivo Technician I at our Safety Assessment facility. This role offers a competitive pay rate of $20/hour along with benefits.

The In Vivo Technician I will assist management, scientists, veterinarians, and related study activities. This position involves performing basic tasks independently while continuing to develop proficiency under supervision. Responsibilities include administering substances to animals, conducting husbandry duties such as cleaning and transporting cages, and ensuring proper feeding and hydration. Additionally, the technician will observe animals to assess health status and collect and manage data and specimens.

Training Schedule:

Week 1: Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Week 2 and beyond: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Flexibility is required for extended hours outside of scheduled shifts based on business needs, sometimes with short notice.

Potential Permanent Schedules: May vary based on operational requirements and available positions, including:

Monday – Friday with weekend and holiday rotations 07:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Sunday – Thursday with holiday rotations 07:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Tuesday – Saturday with holiday rotations 07:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Flexibility is essential for all roles and shifts to accommodate extended hours outside of scheduled shifts based on business needs, sometimes with short notice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the welfare and humane treatment of all animals through positive interactions.
  • Train in essential skills, including animal handling, husbandry, observations, and data collection, tailored to specific training plans and business needs.
  • Collect, document, review, and verify data using forms or electronic systems.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues.
  • Utilize and care for equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and pushing, with the ability to independently lift or carry up to 50 lbs, or team lift heavier weights.
  • Adapt to physical demands, including repetitive motions and exposure to varying environmental conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required; Bachelor's degree in a biological science preferred.
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Willingness to work extended hours beyond the regular schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and using protective equipment.
