Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Temporary to Potential Permanent In Vivo Technician I at our Safety Assessment facility. This role offers a competitive pay rate of $20/hour along with benefits.

The In Vivo Technician I will assist management, scientists, veterinarians, and related study personnel. This position involves performing fundamental tasks independently while continuing to develop proficiency under supervision. Responsibilities include administering substances to animals, conducting husbandry tasks such as cleaning and transporting cages, and ensuring animals receive adequate food and water. The technician will also observe animals to assess health status and collect data and specimens.

Training Schedule:

Week 1: Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Week 2 and beyond: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Flexibility to work extended hours outside of scheduled shifts may be required based on business needs, sometimes with short notice.

Potential Permanent Schedules: These may vary based on operational requirements and available positions, including:

  • Monday – Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Sunday – Thursday with holiday rotations, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Tuesday – Saturday with holiday rotations, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the welfare and humane treatment of all animals through positive interactions.
  • Participate in training programs covering animal handling, husbandry, observations, and data collection.
  • Collect, document, review, and verify data accurately.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members.
  • Utilize and care for equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs independently, or more with assistance.
  • Adapt to various physical demands, including exposure to hot or humid conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required; a Bachelor's degree in a biological science is preferred.
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and using protective equipment.
