Job Description

Position Overview

The Vehicle Title Processing Specialist plays a crucial role in the administrative operations of a License Plate Agency, which is privately owned. This position involves the efficient handling of motor vehicle registrations, titles, and associated documentation while ensuring exceptional customer service to clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the renewal process for vehicle registrations, including issuing renewal stickers and collecting fees.
  • Handle title transactions related to ownership changes, determining applicable fees and processing payments.
  • Complete and notarize necessary documents as mandated by state regulations, including collecting notary fees.
  • Generate required reports, balance cash drawers, and prepare daily bank deposits related to fees.
  • Distribute license plates and handicap placards as needed.
  • Assist in the collection of motor vehicle property taxes and highway use taxes.
  • Provide guidance to the public regarding state vehicle regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in finance, accounting, data entry, or customer service is preferred.

Licenses or Certifications

Must possess a valid driver’s license. Candidates must be commissioned as a Notary Public or be willing to obtain this certification shortly after hiring. Completion of a training program through the state DMV may be required prior to starting the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in computer applications and job-related software.
  • Understanding of state laws regarding vehicle registration and licensing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Capacity to maintain accurate records and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with the public and colleagues.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Experience in a License Plate Agency setting and bilingual abilities are advantageous.

Physical Requirements

This role involves sedentary work, requiring the ability to sit, stand, and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Communication with others is essential for information exchange.

Pay: Starting at $15.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday
