Position Overview: Responsible for leading designated Student Wellness group fitness sessions and/or initiatives. Ensures safe, effective, and enjoyable exercise experiences by delivering exceptional guidance, current quality instruction, and high-energy motivation across various disciplines including Tai Chi, Meditation, Zumba, Kickboxing, Spin, Pilates, Bootcamps, Yoga, Barre, HIIT, Abs & Core, Hip Hop Fitness, Self Defense, Martial Arts, Sport Conditioning, Step, Hi/Lo, Walking, and Running.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in independently instructing group exercise classes AND possession of at least one current group exercise and/or personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NETA, or similar), or specialty certification from a recognized certifying agency.
  • Degree in Kinesiology or a related field.
  • Ability to lead dynamic, engaging, safe, and educational group classes to fulfill the mission and objectives of the Student Wellness department.
  • Fosters an inclusive environment for all fitness levels; inspires and motivates participants.
  • Designs and organizes safe, effective choreography, movement sequencing, and progressions, participant cueing, and overall class setup.
  • Responds calmly and effectively to safety and emergency situations that may arise during classes.
  • Maintains professionalism and a positive demeanor with participants and colleagues at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High energy and stamina with the capability to move and communicate for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely and easily execute the physical movements of the specialties taught, from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Maintains accurate attendance records using established check-in procedures.
  • Oversees group fitness equipment and fitness studio maintenance.
  • Adheres to facility policies.
  • Addresses participant inquiries to support their health and wellness objectives.
  • Builds authentic relationships with members and promotes connections with Student Wellness programs.
  • Arrives punctually and is well-prepared for sessions.
