The university is a partnership between George Mason University and INTO University Partnerships, which supports international students from application to graduation.

Job Summary

The Adjunct Faculty, English Language position is responsible for teaching integrated skills, such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking, in the intensive Academic English program. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to teach in the Undergraduate Pathway program for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Academic English Core courses, focusing on reading, writing, and grammar, for 10 hours per week in the fall and spring semesters and 15 hours per week in the 10-week summer session.
  • Teach Oral Communication Skills (OCS) courses, focusing on listening, speaking, and vocabulary, for 6 hours per week in the fall and spring semesters and 10 hours per week in the 10-week summer session.
  • Teach Elective courses, focusing on content-based language instruction, for 2 to 4 hours per week in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Teach Undergraduate EAP courses for 2 to 4 credits in the summer and/or fall.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a master's degree in TESOL/TEFL or a related field, as well as successful language teaching experience.
  • Employment is contingent upon providing the university with official documentation of degrees earned prior to or shortly after the first day of employment.
  • International degree holders are responsible for providing a certified third-party translation and evaluation of their academic transcripts.
  • Current qualified George Mason University graduate students are encouraged to apply and will be hired into a Graduate Lecturer position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of successful language teaching experience.
