Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography examinations using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information and obtain breast health history.
  • Evaluate mammographic images for positioning, technique, artifacts, and compression, and repeat images as necessary.
  • Compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy.
  • Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images.
  • Provide Radiologists with pertinent patient history when reviewing films.
  • Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Requirements
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • At least one full year of mammography experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and basic radiation safety.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
