About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Competently perform basic and intermediate screening and diagnostic mammography examinations.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
  • Obtain breast health history from each patient and adapt imaging techniques to improve diagnostic quality.
  • Evaluate mammographic images for positioning, technique, artifacts, and compression, and repeat images as necessary.
  • Compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure accurate exam completion.
  • Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images with patient information.
  • Provide radiologists with pertinent patient history when reviewing films.
  • Maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Requirements
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • At least one full year of mammography experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and basic radiation safety.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. You must also be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.

May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.

Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
