Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care East Meadow. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a physician to provide athletic injury/illness prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning services to athletes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in athletic training, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform initial on-field assessment of acute injuries/illnesses that occur during games or practices.
  • Provide first aid and triage in connection with an athlete's injury/illness, as necessary.
  • Monitor injuries/illnesses and coordinate training, follow-up, and evaluation programs.
  • Assist athletes in implementing a home exercise program as prescribed by their physician or physical therapist.
  • Assist in the preparation, selection, and fitting of protective equipment and pre-injury screening.
  • Participate in pre-season parent/coaches meetings.
  • Advises on the design and implementation of injury prevention, conditioning, and fitness programs for athletes pursuant to physician order and supervision.
  • Work closely with members of the community to provide educational opportunities.
  • Acts as an extension of NYU Winthrop, through branding and name recognition, by discussing our services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from an Accredited Athletic Training Program (CAATE).
  • Current and valid NYS Department of Education Athletic Training License.
  • Certification through the Athletic Training Board of Certification (BOC).
  • CPR and AED Certification.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, interact with, and communicate effectively with athletes, parents, coaching staff, school administrators, etc.
  • Ability to effectively manage emergency situations relevant to the position.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training, Health Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
  • Concussion Management Certification.
  • 1-2 years in Interscholastic or intercollegiate sports programs.
