Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our team at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care East Meadow. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a physician to provide athletic injury/illness prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform initial on-field assessments of acute injuries/illnesses that occur during games or practices.
  • Provide first aid and triage as necessary, and monitor injuries/illnesses to coordinate training, follow-up, and evaluation programs.
  • Assist athletes in implementing home exercise programs as prescribed by their physician or physical therapist.
  • Work with the school district to implement and re-evaluate school athletic policies, including EAPs, concussion management, and standing orders.
  • Provide advice to athletes, parents, and coaching staff on injury prevention, health, and wellness, and flexibility training.
  • Participate in pre-season parent/coaches meetings and advise on the design and implementation of injury prevention, conditioning, and fitness programs for athletes.
  • Perform Biodex testing for concussed individuals referred by physicians and conduct "Return to Play" protocols for patients returning from a concussion.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid NYS Department of Education Athletic Training License.
  • Certification through the Athletic Training Board of Certification.
  • CPR and AED certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Athletic Training, Health Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
  • Concussion management certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience in interscholastic or intercollegiate sports programs.
