Patient Transporter Morning Shift

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Patient Transporter to join our team at Stamford Health. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients to various areas of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:- Transport patients to nursing units, ancillary departments, patient rooms, diagnostic areas, and other areas of the hospital in a safe and efficient manner.
- Transport charts and specimens in an efficient and confidential manner.
- Round oxygen tanks daily and inspect gauges to determine when an oxygen tank and/or regulator needs servicing.
- Use proper log-in and log-out procedures using the Tele Tracking automated system.
- Respond to transport trip requests within 10 minutes from the time the trip alert is relayed to the beeper with proper equipment and linens.
- Verify patient identity by checking patient name, date of birth, and medical record number on wristband and verifying it to the patient's chart.
- Follow the second step procedure by asking the patient their name and date of birth and ensuring that no patient is taken from the unit without a patient wristband.
- Retrieve the ticket to ride and get a signature from the patient's RN and properly communicate patient information with the testing department.
- Maintain and clean all transportation equipment based on established infection control guidelines.
- Adhere to all isolation procedures using gowns, masks, gloves, where appropriate.
- Aid in informing customers, nursing units, and ancillary departments of delays.
- Identify yourself when addressing patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
- Use proper lifting techniques when moving a patient.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.
- Basic English reading, writing, and verbal skills required.
- Prior healthcare experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push for extended periods of time.
