Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Health Information Services Coder I - Revenue Integrity to join our team at Penn State Health. As a key member of our revenue integrity team, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze medical records to assign accurate ICD9CM and/or ICD10CM/PCS diagnostic and procedural codes, as well as CPT-4 procedural codes, for inpatient, short stay, and observation services.
  • Work with physicians, administrative, and financial staff to ensure valid code assignments and/or clarification for timely billing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve coding and reimbursement issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with coding guidelines, regulations, and industry developments to ensure compliance and optimal reimbursement.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology or Nursing or successful completion of a coding certificate program or current enrollment in a coding certificate program.
  • Current or future eligibility for certification (RHIT or CCS or CCS-P).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior coding experience is highly preferred.
