Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sales Associate/Material Handler to join our team at our Salinas Thrift Store. As a Sales Associate/Material Handler, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and assisting with daily operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Stock and merchandise products on the sales floor, ensuring a visually appealing and well-organized store environment.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
- Perform quality assurance checks on products to ensure they meet our standards.
- Assist donors with removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
- Separate and sort donated materials into the proper containers and stack them as instructed by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions.
- Must pass a background check, which includes a criminal history and sex offender registry check.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
Our stores operate 7 days a week. Work schedules are determined by management, and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Part-time associates may be scheduled to work any part-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff, if required. The Salvation Army will consider requests for exemptions from any such requirements on either religious or medical grounds when available.
