Job Title: Lactation Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Lactation Consultant to join our team at Methodist Health System. As a Lactation Consultant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Lactation Consultant will be responsible for providing comprehensive lactation support to breastfeeding mothers and their babies. This includes assessing lactation risk factors, developing individualized plans of care, and providing education and support to promote successful breastfeeding outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess lactation risk factors and develop individualized plans of care
  • Provide education and support to breastfeeding mothers and their babies
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other clinical disciplines to ensure comprehensive care
  • Document patient assessments and interventions
  • Participate in ongoing professional education and training to stay current on best practices in lactation care
Requirements:
  • Associates degree from an accredited school required; Bachelor's degree required to be obtained within 5 years of hire date
  • 1 year experience in a health profession recognized by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification within 3 months of hire
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS), or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification
