Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant will function as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Takes medical histories and records vital signs
  • Explains treatment procedures to patients and prepares them for examinations and procedures
  • Assists the medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
  • Performs basic laboratory tests in the clinic/office
  • Takes electrocardiograms
  • Removes sutures/staples and changes sterile and non-sterile dressings
  • Promotes patient/family understanding of educational content and their involvement in the plan of care
  • Documents in the patient record
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and answers telephones
  • Schedules appointments in MaestroCare
  • Checks out patients and referral scheduling
  • Arranges for hospital admissions and laboratory services
  • Updates and files patient medical records
  • Fills out insurance forms
  • Handles billing and bookkeeping
  • Orders clinical and clerical supplies and forms
Requirements
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required
  • BLS required
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Medical Assistant license required
  • High school or GED graduation required
Work Environment

The Certified Medical Assistant will work in a fast-paced clinical environment, interacting with patients, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent patient care.
