Job SummaryThe Certified Medical Assistant will perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice, assisting medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients. This role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
- Assisting medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests in the clinic/office
- Removing sutures/staples and changing sterile and non-sterile dressings
- Documenting in the patient record
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
- 1-3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA
- BLS required
