Job Summary:This position is responsible for performing routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice. The successful candidate will be an integral member of our healthcare team, providing direct and indirect care to patients and ensuring the office runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform administrative duties, including answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient medical records, and handling correspondence.
- Provide clinical support, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
- Assist the physician during examinations and procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and perform basic laboratory tests on the premises.
- Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills, and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy.
- Draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, tests, and procedures, and perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
- High school or GED graduation is required.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
- BLS is required.
