POSITION SUMMARY

The Cardiac Invasive Specialist serves as a key technical expert delivering direct clinical support to patients with cardiac, vascular, and neuro conditions, under the supervision of a cardiologist, neuro interventionalist, or vascular surgeon.

This role involves assisting in the execution of various procedures, managing specialized equipment, and preparing the procedural environment for complex interventions. The specialist actively contributes to creating a supportive atmosphere that enhances satisfaction for patients, families, physicians, and staff, ensuring that all actions align with the Family Centered Care philosophy.


ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Exhibits proficiency in operating cardiac invasive lab devices and equipment.
  • Acts as a support specialist within the technologist role in the Cardiac Invasive Lab.
  • Assists physicians during both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Responsible for the setup and operation of all clinical and computer equipment related to patient care in the lab.
  • Provides technical support for various procedures including Cardiac Catheterization, Structural Heart cases, Neuro Interventional, and Vascular Interventional procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with radiation safety protocols, including monitoring and documenting dosages.
  • Conducts Point of Care testing and manages other assigned equipment.
  • Participates in on-call duties as necessary for emergency procedures.
  • Analyzes electrocardiograph data and hemodynamic monitoring during procedures.
  • Prepares and assists with patient care, including clerical tasks and safe transport.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of the procedure room post-intervention, including proper disposal of biohazard materials.
  • Provides education and consultation to team members as needed.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and inventory control of all equipment.
  • Participates in the orientation of new team members.
  • Performs Basic and Advanced Life Support measures when required.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate degree in health-related science or Bachelor of Science Degree.

Skills:
Completion of an accredited program in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular technology, or radiologic technology. Previous experience in patient care is essential. Knowledge of hemodynamics and cardiovascular anatomy is required. Ability to manage stressful situations and meet deadlines in a fast-paced medical environment is crucial. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.

License:
ARRT or equivalent.

Certification:
RCIS, RCES, General X-ray operator, and BLS (Basic Life Support)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor of Science

Skills:
Familiarity with Claris recording systems and experience with mapping and ablation systems, along with EMR documentation.

Years of Experience:
Experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab or Electrophysiology lab is preferred.

License:
N/A

Certification:
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment:
Lead vest, kilt, thyroid collar, along with additional protective gear as required.

Physical Demands:
Ability to navigate the hospital environment and manage prolonged periods of standing while wearing protective garments. Must tolerate exposure to radiation, chemicals, and bodily fluids, and be capable of moving and lifting moderate weights as necessary for the role.
