San Francisco Clinical Social Worker: Foster Compassionate Care for Underserved Patients

About the Role
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a skilled Clinical Social Worker II to join our team at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. As a member of our multidisciplinary treatment team, you will work with individuals struggling with substance use and mental health issues, providing low-threshold social work services in a safety-net medical home setting.
Job Summary
As a Clinical Social Worker II, you will be responsible for delivering psychosocial assessments, referrals to emergency and long-term housing stabilization, motivational interviewing, harm reduction counseling, and connections to care. You will work collaboratively with the treatment team and inpatient/outpatient units to facilitate referrals and services. Your expertise will also include crisis interventions, brief therapy, and provider consultations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive social services, including psychosocial assessments, referrals, and connections to care
- Collaborate with the treatment team to facilitate referrals and services
- Deliver crisis interventions, brief therapy, and provider consultations
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences to develop care plans for high-risk patients
- Provide culturally sensitive care to monolingual Spanish-speaking patients
- Facilitate weekly therapeutic groups
- Collaborate with substance use navigators and program managers on workflows for linkage to outside programs
Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners
- Two to four years of social work experience providing services to people with substance use disorders
- Excellent oral/telephone communication skills and written documentation
- Ability to work in a high-stress, high-volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines
- Ability to handle demanding workloads involving multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
- Ability to function independently as a collaborative, supportive team member
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist
- Fluency in Spanish, ability to communicate effectively with monolingual patients
