Job Summary:

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician/Medical Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of eye disorders, utilizing advanced ophthalmic techniques and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms, reviewing the appointment schedule to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Perform basic and routine vision screening examinations, administering eye medications as needed.
  • Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments, adhering to strict quality control standards.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required or must obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum one year experience in an eye practice, Medical Assistant role, or accredited Medical Assistant program graduate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • JCAHPO Certification preferred.
