Job Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Technician at Penn State Health, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. This position requires a strong understanding of advanced ophthalmic techniques and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare examination and treatment rooms for patients

Review appointment schedules and prioritize tasks accordingly

Perform basic and routine vision screening examinations

Administer eye medications as prescribed by physicians

Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment

Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Basic Life Support Certification required or must obtain within 6 months of employment

Minimum one year experience in an eye practice, as a Medical Assistant, or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree preferred

JCAHPO Certification preferred
