Position Overview
The role of the Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner encompasses the provision of comprehensive patient care to a diverse group of trauma patients.
This position requires the application of clinical knowledge, experience, and critical thinking to assess situations, prioritize care, and evaluate complex clinical scenarios. The Nurse Practitioner will also engage in educational initiatives for both patients and staff, showcasing leadership abilities and taking responsibility for their professional practice as outlined by the Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to a varied trauma patient demographic.
- Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize patient needs and manage care effectively.
- Participate in educational programs for patients and healthcare staff.
- Exhibit leadership and accountability in clinical practice.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least one year of experience as a Trauma or Surgery Nurse Practitioner.
- Master's degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current certifications in AHA CPR/BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP).
- Valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses without restrictions.
- Furnishing license and DEA certification within three months of hire.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong judgment and organizational skills to function independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent clinical experience in specialty care relevant to the department is highly desirable.
Department Overview
The department aims to provide advanced clinical expertise in nursing to patients and their families consistently. This includes managing chronic medical conditions, providing routine and acute care, and adhering to established medical protocols. Nurse Practitioners are expected to make independent patient management decisions while collaborating with attending physicians and other team members when necessary.
