Annual Salary Range

Project Management Specialist I (B19): $45,244 - $72,408

Project Management Specialist II (B21): $51,278 - $82,901

This role is available for either a Project Management Specialist I or II, contingent upon organizational needs and candidate qualifications. Role Responsibilities

This position involves performing project management specialist duties for departmental initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for departmental projects, along with providing assistance in resource allocation, priority setting, project analysis, reporting, and training. The specialist will collaborate closely with project managers to establish project goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management Specialist I:
  • Conducts project monitoring and data collection to assess project progress against budget.
  • Assists in project audits, schedule management, and progress analysis.
  • Supports the change management process by evaluating project schedule changes and processing change order requests.
  • Updates and assesses the accuracy of project forecasts based on actual costs and progress.
  • Provides general support to project managers and teams as required.
  • Facilitates project meetings and presentations.
  • Performs additional job responsibilities as assigned.
Project Management Specialist II:

In addition to the responsibilities listed above:
  • Coordinates Requests for Proposals from contractors for each project.
  • Develops and presents budget summaries to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Supports the project management team in maintaining effective change management processes.
  • Performs additional job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Relevant work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:

Project Management Specialist I: 1 year of experience in project management, development, construction, or engineering support.

Project Management Specialist II: 2 years of experience in project management, development, construction, or engineering support.

(Experience can be full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Related graduate-level education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license required for operating state vehicles.

Competencies:
  • Knowledge of planning, design, and construction processes for transportation projects.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate projects and program activities.
  • Skills in managing projects and project teams.
  • Proficiency in preparing technical and statistical reports.
  • Strong public relations skills for maintaining effective relationships.
  • Proficient in using computers and relevant software applications.
  • Effective communication skills across all management levels.
  • Initiates and supports quality management activities to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes.
  • Exposure to noise and vibration.
  • Requires sedentary work: ability to lift up to 10 lbs and occasionally carry files or small tools.
  • Light work: ability to lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Standing for prolonged periods may be required.
