About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Omaha Children's Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of parenteral medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Aseptically prepare and label sterile Subcutaneous, Intra Muscular and Parenteral Solutions/ Pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely compounding of medications.
  • Accurately review and complete written documentation associated with preparing medications for patient use.
  • Maintain appropriate stock volumes of pharmaceuticals within the pharmacy, including processing of paperwork and electronic files used in ordering, receiving and pricing of medications.
  • Review and authorize payment of invoices, ensuring proper coding, pricing and terms.
  • Communicate with the Pharmacy Manager regarding weekly pharmaceutical charges/credits and potential purchases of high-cost pharmaceuticals.
  • Evaluate product purchasing selections based on current contract pricing, ensuring proper pricing and terms.
  • Perform a variety of functions related to the role of the Pharmacy Technician purchaser, including reviewing charges/credits of medications, monitoring potential price increases, and communicating with the Pharmacy Team regarding pharmaceutical shortages, changes in products, deleted products and pricing updates.
  • Coordinate pharmaceutical returns and medication recalls, optimizing credit whenever possible.
  • Responsible for recording and tracking pharmacy quality assurance (QA) measures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a Home Healthcare, Pharmacy, or Healthcare setting required.
  • 1-3 years experience in preparing parenteral medications, including 2 years experience in purchasing pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical supplies preferred.
  • Previous experience in home infusion services preferred.
  • Mathematical skills necessary for algebraic conversions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to communicate successfully both orally and in writing, including effective listening skills.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Basic skill level in computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician within 30 Days required.
  • PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech preferred.
