Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teen Program Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our youth development team, you will play a vital role in implementing cause-driven and high-quality YMCA teen programs and experiences focused on leadership development, college access, career readiness, and civic engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement curriculum within established guidelines
  • Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans
  • Lead participants in successfully completing all aspects of the teen leadership experience
  • Facilitate leadership development opportunities and support to all participants
  • Adhere to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards
  • Maintain required program records

Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age and/or 5 years older than the oldest participant
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention trainings
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
  • Previous experience with diverse populations
  • Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or current local health department regulations, examinations, and/or immunization as required by the local or State Department of Health
  • Pass a local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check as well as independent drug test
  • Clear record to operate driving YMCA buses

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time, typically Monday-Friday, including daytime office hours
  • Morning/afternoon/evening club meetings
  • Weekend events
  • Program runs concurrently with ISD calendar
  • Must be available to attend and participate in school program fairs, center-based activities, and meetings with your director/manager

Travel:

  • Travel is primarily to an assigned YMCA or school site(s); however, there are occasions when travel to other locations may be expected
