About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Analyst to join our team at USAA. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing actuarial models to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actuarial Analysis: Establish statistical plans, analytical tools, and requirements for analyzing product experience, classification systems, rating plans, reserves, and catastrophes.
  • Pricing Objectives: Assist in setting pricing objectives by making forecasts and projections and developing strategies to support the company mission and goals in product development, pricing, catastrophe management, reinsurance, or reserving.
  • Actuarial Modeling: Utilize actuarial modeling software to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and/or determine financial strength. Make adjustments and improvements to models as needed.
  • Market Monitoring: Monitor competitive market, industry trends, and professional research to maintain knowledge of current activities related to products, regulation, market conditions, and innovative alternatives to achieve financial and market goals.
  • Problem-Solving: Creatively approach problems and issues from a wide range of perspectives to determine innovative techniques.
  • Change Management: Champion and implement innovative solutions to business initiatives. Responsible for training team members on change/improvement.
  • Actuarial Expertise: Exhibit advanced knowledge of actuarial and business concepts provide innovative solutions and creatively solve business problems.
  • Industry Representation: Represent USAA's interest at industry level committee meetings. Provides data to other departments, useful for their management purposes, from actuarial data systems.
  • Risk Management: Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Actuarial Experience: 4 years Actuarial/business/analytical experience + Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).
  • Business Acumen: Experience in developing Innovative Actuarial Analyses/Processes.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication/presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actuarial Pricing Expertise: Strong actuarial pricing expertise with experience in using a variety of pricing methodologies and models.
  • P&C Industry Experience: P&C industry experience to include Personal Lines pricing experience.
  • Data Analysis: Experience translating detailed analytics into manageable visualizations and communicating/presenting the results concisely to executive leadership.
  • Project Management: Experience working on multiple projects, managing competing priorities, and prioritizing workflow through strong partnerships with multiple business partners.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of data analytic tools and Python/R/SQL or other language.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrable problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • US Military Experience: US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

USAA offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 to $230,400.00, based on experience and market data. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
