Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a vital member of the healthcare team, providing skilled nursing care to patients in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of clinical practice. Working under the direction of the supervising Registered Nurse or Physician, this role requires a strong foundation in nursing principles and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  1. Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  2. Conduct individual patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on patient condition or needs within the timeframe specified by the client facility's policies, procedures, and protocols.
  3. Continuously assess patients, determining the need for ongoing care and interventions.
  4. Observe, report, and record adverse reactions to medications and/or treatments to the Registered Nurse or Physician.
  5. Collect and label specimens as ordered by the physician from patients for testing, following client facility policies, procedures, and protocols.
  6. Initiate emergency resuscitation measures according to protocol.
  7. Provide basic nursing care, including personal care, ambulation, positioning, and feeding, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  8. Document patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention, and progress.
  9. Perform all skills, treatments, and procedures competently, adhering to the scope of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act in the state of practice and the policies, procedures, and protocols of the client facility.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program.
  • Current license in good standing in the state of practice.
  • BLS credential.
  • One year of skilled nursing experience within the past two years.
  • Thorough working knowledge of anatomy, general medical conditions, general therapies, and interventions.
