Job Title: Academic Leader - Physician Education

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Leader to serve as the Associate Chief of Staff for Education (ACOS/E). This senior management position reports to the Chief of Staff and is responsible for overseeing all health professions trainees at the VA medical facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Education Service and work with a diverse staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care by trainees.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to health professions education, accreditation, and affiliate relationships.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on Health Professions Education (HPE) program requirements and ensure compliance with VHA Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) directives.
  • Collaborate with clinical and educational leadership to establish a high level of credibility and ensure a respectful, non-biased learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Board-certified physician with leadership experience in clinical, educational, and administrative areas.
  • Documented leadership and management skills with previous progressive administrative responsibility in HPE programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
