The primary role of the Director of Design Innovation and FF&E Expert is to oversee quality assurance for multifamily projects, with a strong emphasis on FF&E. This position will ensure a seamless project workflow from the initial design concept through to specification and procurement. The Director will also be instrumental in mentoring the design team through both collaborative reviews and hands-on project installations to evaluate individual and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new project data and guide the team in selecting appropriate vendors based on project timelines, budgets, and design aesthetics.
  • Engage with the design team during project initiation to inspire creativity and provide essential information for project success.
  • Coordinate with the design team throughout the design phase to ensure all client specifications are met while adhering to quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with design leadership to maintain and assess the design process regularly, implementing necessary improvements.
  • Ensure the design team adheres to the project budget throughout the specification phase.
  • Conduct FF&E presentations for clients, both in-person and virtually, as required.
  • Review specifications prior to the procurement phase to guarantee accuracy and quality, establishing an ongoing review process.
  • Lead a team of designers in executing high-end project installations to ensure quality and client satisfaction.
  • Attend project installations to assess individual performance, provide training for designers, and evaluate overall team effectiveness in both FF&E and finish design.
  • Facilitate client walkthroughs as necessary and address any follow-up requests or issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with the data entry coordinator to manage the vendor and resource library and coordinate trade show participation.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new designers and assist with their onboarding, training, and mentorship.
  • Work with the design leadership team on various initiatives for the multifamily design department, including team meetings, creative inspiration sessions, performance evaluations, and corporate planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  • 5-7 years of experience in multifamily or hospitality design with a strong focus on FF&E.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Comprehensive experience with the full design process from programming to final punch-out.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a positive and energetic approach.
  • Experience in budget management and vendor allocation.
  • Excellent client relations and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
