Position Overview:

Job Role: Pharmacy Care Nurse (RN)

Department: Pharmacy Services

Employment Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver prompt, efficient, and courteous service to customers, demonstrating empathy and attentiveness in all interactions.
  • Greet customers warmly, whether in the pharmacy or throughout the store, fostering a welcoming environment.
  • Administer vaccinations in accordance with legal guidelines, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Assist customers by:
    • Guiding them to desired products
    • Retrieving items that are out of reach
    • Helping with heavy items
    • Documenting and relaying customer feedback and requests
    • Performing various tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer phone calls promptly, providing friendly and helpful assistance to callers.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain a positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Handle inquiries that do not necessitate a pharmacist's expertise.
  • Process new prescription orders and refill requests as directed by the supervising pharmacist.
  • Collect necessary patient information for prescription preparation.
  • Input prescription and patient data into the pharmacy system.
  • Support pharmacists in preparing medications for dispensing.
  • Label prescription containers accurately.
  • Prepare prescriptions for mailing and submit insurance claims as required.
  • Maintain accurate filing of dispensed prescriptions.
  • Report any medication discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Manage inventory by ordering, checking in, and stocking pharmacy supplies.
  • Perform cash handling transactions as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.
  • Assist with insurance billing and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene and dress code standards as per company policies.
  • Comply with all pharmacy regulations and company guidelines.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance as scheduled.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support other store areas as required.
  • Engage in other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a nursing degree and be licensed with the relevant State Nursing Board, including multi-state licensure privileges.

Skills and Attributes:
  • Ability to apply logical and scientific reasoning to solve problems involving various factors.
  • Proficient in performing arithmetic calculations, including basic algebra and geometry.
  • Capable of composing original correspondence and interpreting technical manuals.

Special Considerations:
  • For offsite vaccination events, a valid driver's license without restrictions is required, and candidates must be at least 18 years old to operate a company vehicle.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 10 pounds frequently, with the ability to perform various physical activities.
  • Visual acuity is necessary for tasks requiring depth perception and color differentiation.
  • Must be capable of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and performing repetitive motions.

Work Environment:

This role typically involves a fast-paced retail environment, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. There may be occasional exposure to hazardous materials during specific duties. Employees may also be required to work offsite for vaccination events, which may involve various environmental conditions.

Equipment Utilized:

Standard office equipment including pharmacy software, cash registers, and other pharmacy-related tools.

Confidentiality:

Maintains the confidentiality of customer medical information in accordance with applicable regulations.

Interactions:

Regular contact with customers, the general public, and suppliers, with occasional interactions with regulatory agencies.
