Company Overview:

Project FIND is dedicated to serving low- and moderate-income seniors, including those experiencing homelessness, by providing essential services and support to enhance their quality of life and promote independent living. Currently, Project FIND manages three supportive housing facilities accommodating approximately 600 individuals, alongside four senior centers that cater to over 3,000 members. Our diverse membership includes individuals from various backgrounds, ranging from active seniors to those who are frail or homebound. For all these individuals, Project FIND serves as a vital resource, offering housing, meals, and programs designed to assist them in navigating the complexities of aging while fostering community involvement and healthy lifestyles.

Our Older Adult Centers are dedicated venues that offer a range of meals, activities, and services tailored for individuals aged 60 and above.

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Woodstock Program Director, the Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with ensuring the overall upkeep and maintenance of the older adult center and other assigned areas. This role requires adherence to all standards set forth by the New York City Aging and Department of Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and maintaining all floors and stairways.
  • Replace floor tiles, ceiling panels, and light bulbs as necessary.
  • Conduct minor repairs such as fixing broken locks, addressing wall damage, and performing painting/plastering tasks.
  • Empty waste receptacles and garbage bins on a daily basis.
  • Sanitize bathroom facilities, including sinks, floors, toilets, and urinals. Replenish supplies such as toilet paper and paper towels as needed.
  • Clean mirrors and glass surfaces, including entry doors, bathrooms, bulletin boards, and bookcases.
  • Strip, buff, and wax all floors on a quarterly basis.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure compliance with NYC Aging and DOH regulations, including self-inspections and inventory management.
  • Transport program and office equipment/furniture between sites as required.
  • Assemble and install program and office appliances and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the center's offices, storage areas, lobbies, hallways, kitchen, and dining areas, in accordance with policies established by the New York City Department of Health and Aging.
  • Review the program calendar to prepare for scheduled special events.
  • Identify and report any urgent maintenance issues to the Program Director.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by the Program Director or agency management.
  • Participate in the annual staff evaluation process.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required, along with 2-4 years of relevant experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a senior center environment.
  • Proficiency in using tools, including both hand and power tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for creative problem-solving.

Work Schedule:

This position requires availability from Tuesday to Friday, with Saturday hours from 8 AM to 4 PM. Flexibility to work some weekends and holidays may be necessary.
